We have been sick at our house. First the oldest, then the youngest, then the middle girl, now the oldest isn't feeling too hot. We have stayed in for almost 3 weeks. The house is a wreck. We have had another incredibly busy weekend. The frustration levels are increasing for me. I am ready for a break.
But breaks don't really come when you are a mom. And when you
homeschool. so I am trying to hold it all together but tomorrow is a new week, and the books were never even put up from last week. I am ready to quit. Not really, but definitely vacation. And while I'm gone, someone should come in here and get rid of all the junk that is driving me crazy, just take it out back and burn the mess, and then allow me to come back home to neat, paperless order.
I am feeling a little burdened with my responsibilities right now. So tonight, I decided to get my weekly turn on the treadmill to try and run off some of this angst. Our whole family is supposed to run the 5K at our church the first weekend in March. Since we have been sick for 3 weeks, we haven't really been training well. But that is another story. So tonight I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I am listening to Newsboys while jogging on the treadmill. It is a great song. "
Givin' it over,
givin' it over . . ." I am just really thinking on that one as I am running. I start to reach up, and hand over these burdens I am carrying around.
Givin' it over to God. It feels good and I up my speed by a couple tenths of a mile. I decide I am going to envision handing these burdens over to the Lord. Then it happened. For just a tiny little moment, I closed my eyes. The next thing I knew I was on an ankle and a knee and the treadmill had shut off.
I fell.
And as my ankle is burning and my knee is aching, I couldn't help but think that sometimes that's how it is in this walk with Christ. Sometimes, when we are trying to do the right thing, the world in which we live, our own flesh, or circumstances beyond our control knock us down.
I guess the key is to get back up.
I did and finished my half mile segment. But my ankle really did hurt.
